Lightning Storm!

Are you seeing this amazing lightning storm right now? We love storm-watching, so we couldn't resist sitting outside while it was rolling in, and before it started raining. Wow, the lightning show is incredible! Every second or two the entire sky was lit up!

I took my tripod and camera with fish-eye lens out and snapped about 40 exposures... Literally every one caught some lighting, but these six were the best.

This next one really lit up the entire neighborhood!

If we ever move away from here, we'll sure miss the storms. As dangerous and destructive as they are, the beauty is breathtaking.

*** UPDATE ***

Blogger was having seizures and fits for the last couple of days, so this blog is just now posting on May 2nd! Just wanted to explain in case you follow the blog closely and wondered how you missed this post for two days! It was going to be the quickest turnaround blog post ever... Took photos, uploaded and blogged all within about 10 minutes and then all that happened. Oh well. =)

Jamie & Todd's Engagement

Remember the day of all of the wildfires and 60mph winds around the metro? Well, one brave couple decided to go ahead with their portrait session despite the madness. No joke! We had grit in our teeth and eyes, but regardless, Jamie and Todd worked it and made it a pleasure to be out there with them. =)

Congratulations, Jamie & Todd! Can't wait to shoot your wedding in a few weeks!

The Dean Family

Our friends (and neighbors) Jenny & Brad were ready for family pictures and I think we got some really fun images for them. Here are a few of my faves...

I love how this little guy loved to be in his daddy's arms, and I pictured this image right away when I saw him head over to his daddy during the session.

Isn't it gorgeous outside? Holly and the girls are enjoying the backyard today... Planting a sunflower house (take 3!) and weeding the backyard. The front yard is my hobby, stress-relief and pastime, so there's not a weed to be seen. I like to pace while on the phone, so weeding works nicely for me! =)

And we're trying our hand at growing some herbs. We bought a huge rosemary plant at the Edmond farmer's market on Saturday morning and it smells SO good! It'll be fun to see if we can actually keep it alive so we can cook using our own herbs!

Like the Weather

I used to have a buddy who, when asked "how are you doing?" would always answer, "Like the weather." On weeks like this one, we'd all be doing pretty darn good if that were the case! =) It's that beautiful early Spring weather that comes every year to help the grass green up, the flowers bloom and the birds start to sing. I love it! It's a great time of the year to be an on-location photographer.

I've just enough time to post a favorite from Jack's recent senior portrait session before I run some errands and head to my shoot for the day.

Hope you're "like the weather" today!

Brandi & Devin's Engagement

Ready for some fresh, fun images? Brandi is probably our biggest fan and self-proclaimed blog stalker. (Hey, we blog because we want you to keep up with what's going on, so don't fell like you're blog-stalking!!) And Devin was willing and compliant enough for us to drag him around and use some new locations I've been wanting to try out.

I'm not sure I've ever had 20 real favorites from a portrait session before, but I did with this one. =) Just can't narrow them down any more, so you're getting them all!

We started out at Java Dave's since smoothies are a a favorite pastime for Brandi & Devin. From there, we drove all over downtown, chasing the nice light and beautiful locations! Have I mentioned before how much I love being able to make the world our studio, and that we're not stuck in a studio space pulling down pretty backdrops and swapping out props? =)

I am in love with this rusty old garage I recently found. Do you like it? Makes for a really cool background, I think!

Pretty sweet arch, huh?

The sun was a little intense, but I kinda like how it affected this next image.

I think this next shot is my favorite... Love the perspective, shooting through the leaves!

It's been a while since we shot from the top of our favorite downtown building, but the sunset was just so great, I couldn't resist...

Brandi and Devin, I had a great time with you guys! Thanks for being rockstars and helping me make some awesome images for you! Can't wait to shoot your wedding in about 7 weeks!

Justin & Megan :: Engaged!

We just had one of the most enjoyable sessions ever with two of my newest friends, Justin & Megan! I'm not sure I've laughed at an engagement session more, and I got some great laughing shots of the two of them that I just had to share along with some other favorites from the day.

Okay, then we got all romantic and serious... Love the feeling of this one!

Congrats, Justin & Megan! It was so much fun to hang out with a couple as much in love as you two, and we can't wait to shoot your wedding in May! I have a feeling it's going to be a lot of fun. =)

Favorite Images from the Week

I'm a few sessions behind on blog posts, so I thought I'd take the opportunity to put them all together in one long post of images! Enjoy!

The image below may be one of my favorite of all time so far... Just loved the storm clouds moving in and the great sky we had to work with that day.

It was crazy-windy, though! Like sustained 30mph wind.

She's actually not lying down in this next one, she's actually leaning into the wind. Okay, that's a bit of an exaggeration... I think.

I swear I had these sunglasses when I was in high school... Classic! The intense blue sky reflected in them was pretty cool, I thought.

So, that brings us up to speed for now! Hope you'll forgive me for 2 blog posts in the same day. =)

Dylan :: Senior

Well, if you're reading this, you survived the untimely cold weather from the last couple of days. Congratulations! Looks like our reward is going to be some really beautiful weather for the rest of the week!

Just wanted to share several favorites from our most recently edited session...

I really love this next image, and how the texture really enhances the feeling of it so well.

Thanks for checking in. Lots more to post about... Check back soon!

Meet Amanda

Okay, this may be my favorite image from this month... Oh, wait, it's April. Regardless, I am just loving how this image is shaping up. We had the most beautiful soft light and blue skies right at the end of the session -- key ingredients for a stunning image.

Would love to hear comments on how you like it! Also, happy April Fools Day! Try not to get into too much trouble. =)

Meet Holli

Just a few faves from a recent session with one of our colorful seniors! I'm sure she's never heard that one before, huh? I blame my mother for my sense of humor and I'd be happy if you would, too. =)

I heard a really good quote the other day that went something like "the downside to having great parents is you can't blame them for anything." I finally found something to blame my Mom for!

Thanks for keeping up with what we've been up to! More coming soon... It's our busy season, so there's no lack of images to share. Now, off to bed!
