Good News from the Apple Store

It's a great day! I heard from the Apple store today and they said that despite a failing hard drive, they should be able to save all of my data and put it all on a new hard drive for me. What a huge relief! First think on the agenda: Get a backup system in place for my documents, etc. on the computer. I have a great system for all of our photos, which was a no-brainer for us, but all of our documents, website files, etc. that we've worked on for so long aren't regularly backed up. So, that's a top priority for us.

Hey, Braddock, here's a preview from the session we did for you this week. I'm working on them now and thought you'd enjoy seeing it.

We are absolutely loving this warm weather! The grass is greeing up and our flowers and trees are beginning to bloom. I like to spend time in the garden/yard to de-stress sometimes and this week has been really great for that.

Hope you're enjoying the warm weather, too!

Backing Up...

You never really need backups until your computer crashes or gets stolen or something. And then everyone *tsk *tsk's you for not backing up. =) Well, yesterday my Apple notebook computer wouldn't let me log in. Apparently, the OS fragmented in some strange way and must be wiped and reinstalled. I'm praying that they'll be able to save everything first, though. Apple computers have some really cool features including booting computers up in target mode in order to transfer data from one to another using Firewire.

I had started backing up my system settings, etc. on .Mac just recently, but didn't have a good backup system in place for the notebook. Thankfully, that's not the computer that we have our business photos on, just lots of documents and business info. Argh!

We should find out today how bad the damage is and what they might be able to do about it. I felt sick all day yesterday and stll feel sick about it today. Lesson learned, I guess! Additional disk drives are really inexpensive compared to the prospect of losing hard work and info.

Billboards & Spring Photography

I love this time of the year with the cool weather and the rain. Everything's starting to come alive and green up and it's just beautiful! After watering the yard the other day, I saw the water droplets on the tree just glowing in the sunset and I just had to capture a shot or two.

Click on the picture to see a larger version of it and check out the reversed image in the water droplet. You can see a tiny inversed image of the tree's branches quite clearly. I love seeing the beauty in such simple everyday things.

I was surprised yesterday when driving home I noticed one of our photos up on a billboard! It's always rewarding to see your own work in everyday life. The billboard photo was one from a session with former District Attorney Wes Lane last year during his campaign for re-election. (Just ignore the Sonic sign. =)

The Spring season is kicking off in full steam shortly. We have sessions booked through May already and still have room for more, so give us a call if you've been putting it off for any reason.

Also, we've expanded wedding photography services to accommodate almost any budget!

News from the Sangree's

Here's the latest picture of our little baby Storie... thought you'd enjoy seeing what we've been so busy bouncing and burping these last 7 weeks! I'd say she's filling out quite nicely. =)

We've been pretty slammed with the kiddos for the past several weeks and we're realizing that we're going to have to make some really big changes this year regarding photography. With Holly's hands full ALL the time now, we're having to change up our work-flow process and I'm going to have to go from retouching a smaller percentage of our sessions, to retouching every session. It's just the thing we needed to thrust us into photography as our main business and to step back from our other family business, Senior Care Services.

We may have a challenging road ahead of us, but we count ourselves very privileged to be able to do what we love for a living. Everybody loves photography, but to be able to make it financially doing that as one's business is always a huge leap to make. So, we're praying all goes well as we make that transition in the very, very near future. We'd sure appreciate everyone's prayers and support as well during this exciting and challenging time in our lives!

Over the last several months, we've been so busy that we were turning away work, but from here on out, I think we'll be taking just about everything that comes our way! So, if you know of any needs we can help with, don't hesitate to pass it along and we'll do our best to take great care of them.

A huge thank you to our many customers and fans who have made it possible for us to be in such a position to actually make a go of it full time!
