The Garrett Family

Summer is here in full swing! It was a hundred, but the heat index (factoring in humidity) was showing about a thousand degrees this fine June day when we did the Garrett family’s portraits at a park in Edmond. =) They were troopers, though, and I think we all managed to have a good time despite the heat. Thankfully, we always shoot at the end of the day when it starting to cool off, and the light is pretty.

Here are a few of our favorites from the session, and the rest are already available to view in their online gallery. (Their daughter’s name is the password)

The Block Family

We spent a beautiful evening at the Block’s home in Edmond, photographing the family with their latest addition, baby Grace, in those beautiful East-side surroundings! Grace was a dream to work with, and we had some really wonderful light to work with, too.

Here are our favorites from the session… 22 of them. Enjoy!

I really should have brought my swim trunks, but playing Call of Duty 4 on the 8-foot high-def screen was definitely the more memorable experience. =) Too bad it was date night and I had to run after just a couple of rounds of being schooled and slaughtered. Looking forward to visiting with you guys at a more leisurely pace in just a couple of weeks!

Ryan Turns Two – Part Two

Well, the website maintenance seems to have gone without much of a hitch. Our site was down for just a few hours last night very late, so hopefully it wasn’t a problem for any of you. I actually think our site seems to load quicker after the move than before. Maybe it’s just me… Any of you notice a difference?

A couple of weeks ago, we blogged a preview of Ryan’s session for his 2nd birthday. I just realized I hadn’t followed up with our favorites, so here they are… All 25 of our favorites!

The Anthony Family

When Paula called us about family portraits we were delighted to have the chance to reconnect two years after photographing their wedding. Three generations were present, and it was really a pleasure to work with such a sweet, fun family. They were kind enough to laugh at my jokes and we were really happy with how the images captured the love and joy of this beautiful family. Here are some of our favorites from the session.

Does Grandpa Anthony not have amazing posture?! We want to know the secret! Paula, if you can get him to share, please do let us know in the comments! I’d love to look like him when I’m that age.

Ryan Turns Two :: A Preview

I was just looking over these images from last night’s photo session and I just had to share one with you. Ryan turned two recently and we had a great time creating some fun portraits that are uniquely Ryan!

Ryan’s parents were the perfect facilitators for a good session for kids – they were laid back and didn’t stress too much if Ryan started squirming and was ready for a change.

Really, we see ourselves as being there to capture images of our subjects having a great time, not to pose and create a fake image of them looking like they’re having fun. We grownups can fake fun sometimes, but no two year old is down for that. You just have to love the genuineness and authenticity of children this age. =)

Windy Spring Portraits at the Capitol

I can’t begin to tell you how happy we are at the nice weather that’s rolling around! This winter feels like it’s lasted a year! Although our own lawn is still looking dead and brown, there’s a lot of green coming up around the city. Here’s a favorite image from one session we photographed over the weekend at the Capitol for Cassie and her family.

You can hardly tell, but the wind was blowing 30mph! =) Thanks for being great sports and so fun to work with! We can’t wait to edit the rest and show you!

Oh, I changed our menu from above the masthead image at the top of the page, to below it. Did you notice? I’d love to know if you have a preference… I thought it looked better above, but having it below seems to make more sense for function and practicality. What do you think?

Portraits in Arcadia, Oklahoma

Here’s a post of one of our Fall portrait sessions that I thought of today and realized I’d never blogged about. During our busiest seasons, it’s hard to keep up, so I may pull a few favorites out and share them with you. This particular session came to mind today when I was talking with a bride about doing some rustic country bridal and engagement portraits.

One of the cool things about Oklahoma is that you don’t have to drive far to find really unique, unusual settings for portraits. When Rebecca contacted us last Fall with the idea in mind of a more country, old-town feel for portraits with her son, we immediately though of this old town just East of Edmond. Doesn’t it look like someplace from the 1800′s?

I love the color and lighting in the trees of this first image…

We found this old safe... I think Cameron and I would have been happy to stay there the rest of the day to try to open it

I think this is my favorite from the day. Love the light and feel of this one! He's even chewing on a long piece of grass!

On the way back into town, we kept our eyes open for some red color to use as a backdrop for just a few more portraits. We actually pulled off the highway to get this image and had a few pickup trucks honk their approval as they drove by. =)

I look forward to doing more of these unique locations and country feel portraits. We did several last year at customers’ ranches, homesteads, etc. out in the country, and they really make for the best personalized family portraits ever!
