Melinda and Henry

After being rained out for at least three sessions, we finally got the chance to photograph Melinda and Henry for their engagement, on what may be the hottest week we’ve had so far this year. =) They were both cool customers, though, and didn’t even break a sweat.

We’re working on their images now, but I just had to share two of my favorites so far.

Crystal & Ryan’s Engagement

How about all the wind we’ve been having in Oklahoma recently? Somebody told me it’s because Kansas blows and Texas sucks, but I think they had it backwards because the wind has been from the South for a week or so. (No offense to our neighbors in KS and TX… We love you. Really. Right up until football season.)

Here are some favorites from our most recent windy, fun engagement session… starring Crystal and Ryan. Crystal’s sister bought a gift card a few months ago to cover the engagement session, and we’ve been looking forward to the weather warming up ever since!

We met at Sara Sara Cupcakes for some chit-chat and planning and then hit the city for some great times together in front of the camera. They were both relaxed and really looked like naturals for the camera all evening. I think we could have easily gone another hour, just laughing and having a great time together, but I already had several hundred great images to choose from and they had a date planned for after the session, so we called it a wrap.

Crystal and Ryan, it was a blast! Thanks for being so great to work with and so much fun to get to know… Keep up the dating, even after the wedding! It seems silly before you have kids, and it’s really hard after, but I think you’ll be glad you did.

Megan & Chadley :: Engaged!

Seriously? June is here and almost gone already? Wow… On one hand, it’s gone so quickly that it’s hard to believe, yet on the other hand we’re slammed and behind like we always are at the end of June so I can’t help but believe it!

This is a special “Thank you!” to our brides and customers waiting for pictures so patiently! We are working as fast as we can to catch up and we should be caught up completely in another couple of weeks. Yesterday was a great day and we got SO much done!! If I could just have 5 of those days in a row, I think we’d be all caught up!

Jamie & Todd’s Engagement

Remember the day of all of the wildfires and 60mph winds around the metro? Well, one brave couple decided to go ahead with their portrait session despite the madness. No joke! We had grit in our teeth and eyes, but regardless, Jamie and Todd worked it and made it a pleasure to be out there with them. =)

Congratulations, Jamie & Todd! Can’t wait to shoot your wedding in a few weeks!

Brandi & Devin’s Engagement

Ready for some fresh, fun images? Brandi is probably our biggest fan and self-proclaimed blog stalker. (Hey, we blog because we want you to keep up with what’s going on, so don’t fell like you’re blog-stalking!!) And Devin was willing and compliant enough for us to drag him around and use some new locations I’ve been wanting to try out.

I’m not sure I’ve ever had 20 real favorites from a portrait session before, but I did with this one. =) Just can’t narrow them down any more, so you’re getting them all!

We started out at Java Dave’s since smoothies are a a favorite pastime for Brandi & Devin. From there, we drove all over downtown, chasing the nice light and beautiful locations! Have I mentioned before how much I love being able to make the world our studio, and that we’re not stuck in a studio space pulling down pretty backdrops and swapping out props? =)

I am in love with this rusty old garage I recently found. Do you like it? Makes for a really cool background, I think!

The sun was a little intense, but I kinda like how it affected this next image.

I think this next shot is my favorite… Love the perspective, shooting through the leaves!

It’s been a while since we shot from the top of our favorite downtown building, but the sunset was just so great, I couldn’t resist…

Brandi and Devin, I had a great time with you guys! Thanks for being rockstars and helping me make some awesome images for you! Can’t wait to shoot your wedding in about 7 weeks!

Justin & Megan :: Engaged!

We just had one of the most enjoyable sessions ever with two of my newest friends, Justin & Megan! I’m not sure I’ve laughed at an engagement session more, and I got some great laughing shots of the two of them that I just had to share along with some other favorites from the day.

Okay, then we got all romantic and serious… Love the feeling of this one!

Congrats, Justin & Megan! It was so much fun to hang out with a couple as much in love as you two, and we can’t wait to shoot your wedding in May! I have a feeling it’s going to be a lot of fun. =)

Charles & Nicole :: Engaged!

Several weeks ago, Charles contacted me to photograph his proposal to Nicole. He had seen us at work at one of his friend’s weddings and we were excited to be able to help!

Well, the proposal photos turned out below my expectations due to lack of lighting – the sun set and the proposal spot turned out to be too dark for great pictures! Lesson learned… =)

Anyway, Charles was understanding and accepted my offer to re-shoot a full engagement session to get some really great images of the two of them. Just thought I’d share a few of my favorites from the session!

Cheever’s restaurant is one of their favorites and is a really meaningful landmark for them, so we worked a few in with Cheever’s in the background. It really is a great restaurant… If you haven’t been there, definitely try it out sometime! Nice and small, great food, and relaxing atmosphere. You might want to insure wheel locks on your car before parking it, though. =)

Oh My, It’s December!

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family, friends and great food! We stuck around and enjoyed Holly’s family for Thanksgiving again this year and were pleasantly surprised when Holly’s oldest brother (Titus) flew back from LA to join us for a few days. It was deliciously relaxing and rejuvenating… the way I always hope holidays will be. =)

Brides, today is the last day to submit your story for the $1500 giveaway by Photographik.org! Let me know if you’re interested and we’ll help however we can (i.e. submitting photos from your engagement session, etc.). I’m taking the banner down from our home page now, but you still have all day to put your name in the hat!

Well, we’re officially behind in retouching. It’s been hard to keep up with traveling for weddings, sickness in between, and now the holidays. Thankfully we have a fairly open week this week, so we’ll be working hard to catch up starting tonight. Today I have to head down to Cleveland County to be a witness in a trial against a local gangster who happened to have some of my stolen property from the big theft earlier this year. So, yet another day out of the office… Seems like when it rains it really pours.

And we can’t blog without including a few pictures, so here are a few favorites from recent sessions…

Tori & Brandon’s Proposal & Engagement Session

Here are some favorites from our most recent proposal session. Up to now, we’ve been hiding for these kinds of proposal sessions, but since Tori set up the session, Brandon was totally able to catch her off guard when he dropped to one knee and held out a diamond ring. I love it!

We started out just cruising around Bricktown, chasing the good light and finding cool locations to shoot…

Here’s where things really got fun… We’d all but wrapped up the session when Brandon said we had a few more shots that needed to be taken over here…

Fun times, guys! Thanks so much for being so great to work with! I really enjoyed getting to know you and I’m looking forward to photographing your wedding next October!!

I’d post more commentary, but it’s dinner time and I know you’re just here to see the photos anyway. =)

Dana & Ryan :: Engaged!

Congratulations, Dana & Ryan! I know you’ve been engaged for at least 6 weeks now because it’s been that long since we met about your wedding photography, but you guys rate a public blog congrats. =)

We had a really great time shooting Dana & Ryan’s engagement session downtown and I knew it was going to be a great session from the minute I pulled up and saw them snuggling and holding hands before they even saw me! If I could hand-pick every couple we work with (and we try to! =) we would ask for romantic, affectionate couples like Ryan and Dana. It’s easier for them to forget that they’re there for a photo shoot and they just focus on each other, and on the great time they’re having together and I think those are really the best moments to capture in photos.
