Review of the New Canon 1DX

Nerd alert… This post will probably be of no interest at all to most of our customers, but a lot of our website traffic is actually from other photographers. I just reviewed the Canon 1DX on B&H’s website, but the review won’t go online for a few days, I see. So, I thought I’d share it...

Backup Your Data: Hard Drives All Fail

It’s been a crazy week! Our main editing computer had a graphics card failure which was cause for a lot of concern and a few days’ delay, but once we got a new card in it, it’s back to normal again. Graphics cards can give really confusing errors when they start to die, and we...

Inspiration, Motivation, and Learning

20120227-153743.jpg

Every year around this time, I do my very best to get to one of the photography conferences taking place during our “slow” season. This year was no exception, and I was able once again to road trip with my good friend and fellow photographer Davy Knapp all the way to Las Vegas for the...

I think I’ve found a new photo-related love… Instagram! If you have an iPhone (sorry Android users, maybe soon?) you owe it to yourself and your phone to check out this free, brilliant and simple photo-sharing app. Here are a few iPhone photos I recently uploaded via Instagram.  If you’re an Instagram user, look us up...

Brides Beware! Email Scam

I received two scary emails this morning… Scary because they seemed so plausible that I’m certain brides around the world will fall for it, and targeting brides is just heartless. Both emails included an html attachment that I guess will open a web page, most likely with spy-ware or virus included for no extra charge....

Scheduled Website Maintenance, Outage: June 15-16, 2010

Just wanted to make you aware of some scheduled website maintenance for this coming Tuesday, June 15th. Our web hosting company is moving their data center, and we are to expect about 4 hours of downtime sometime between 10PM and 8AM CST. Sorry for the inconvenience! It’s a pity that the people who need to...

Mobile Version of the Website

Untitled-1

Over the weekend, I was excited to install a plugin on our site that will make it smart-phone friendly! More and more of our web traffic is coming from iPhones, Blackberries, etc., so it’s important to have a site that is formatted for easy reading on those smaller screens. It doesn’t look quite as cool...

Down Time

PCP_Logo

Okay, so just because it’s the slow time of year for us, doesn’t mean it’s okay for our website to go away for almost a week! Our website hosting company (WestHost) had a catastrophic failure as a result of a fire suppression system test gone wrong. Apparently, they lost lots of hardware, had to install...

Functionality of the new blog-site

categories clip

Call me a nerd, but I’m just as excited about the functionality of this new blog-site as I am about the look of it. Unless you’re a nerd like me, you might totally overlook some of the coolest features, so let’s talk about a few of them just to make sure you’re comfortable using them....

Welcome to the new blog-site!

PCP_Logo

Yes, a blog-site! It’s part blog, part website, and all new for 2010. (Uh, that sounded better in my head… anyway…) While we get everything set up, don’t hesitate to let us know if you can’t find something you’re looking for, or if we can help in any way. Until we are able to set...

Anniversaries, Winter Storms, and Time-Lapsed Video

PCP_Logo

How are y’all enjoying the wintry weather?! We were fortunate enough to have last weekend alone (without the kids) to celebrate our 7th anniversary. We are so grateful for grandparents nearby who love to have the kids over on a regular basis! We had a great time, and despite the weather, we ate at all...

New Blog & Logo Coming Soon!

One of the many projects we’re working on during our slow season is setting up a new blog. We’ve been with Blogger since January of 2006 and blogs have changed so much since then! =) We had pretty much customized it as much as we could and were running into time-consuming issues, so we’re excited...

Feedburner Issues…

Apparently, FeedBurner was acquired by Google and has since started having issues related to timely delivery of our blog posts to subscribers. This is randomly affecting those of you who subscribed to receive our blog posts by email. It appears that older blog posts are being sent randomly and that the new posts are being...

Fun Shooting Today – Texture Hunt

This afternoon I had the pleasure of shooting just for fun, gathering textures for use in the future. It’s amazing how much money can be spent on textures, so a texture excursion (I’m tempted to call it a texcursion, but does everything really need to have a witty name? =) seemed like a good idea...

Starting a Business? (1000 Words)

Recessions are actually great times to start businesses. Recession-time entrepreneurs have to be nimble, decisive, and quick learners; and by the time the recession is over, these entrepreneurs/businesses have a huge head start over everyone else who then realizes they should start a business. I’ve just started reading The Entrepreneurial Imperative: How America’s Economic Miracle...

The 80′s vs. Today :: Economic Indicators

Can you believe it’s March already?! I love it! Since January and February are our slowest months (as on-location photographers, we’re subject to the weather) we kinda hibernate over winter and emerge in early March to start shooting again. =) Daylight Savings Time begins early this year — next weekend! — so don’t forget to...

If you’re on Facebook, check out our Prints Charming Photography page and become a fan if you’d like! We’d love to have you on board if you’re a Facebook user. We created the page over the holidays, but I just now realized that I never did blog about it! Some people have Facebook “groups” and...

Twitter Technology Tuesday

Yeah, that sounds like a regular feature, but don’t look for it again. =) I just got our blog to feature a Twitter feed of our most recent 5 tweets, and I thought I’d share it with you. (Check the right column for it.) It’s nice when technology actually works together. And when it doesn’t,...

Too Many Blog Subscriptions…

In this age, there is no shortage of info/knowledge on hand, begging to be taken in. Unfortunately, there’s not enough time to take it all in. Well, after weeks of catching up, I’ve finally read every blog post that I had subscribed to and I have no unread blog posts pending! Ahh… It’s a great...
